Dan Meyer of the Florida Marlins In Affliction!

When searching the name Dan Meyer on the internet, two options appear. One is for Dan Meyer, the pitcher for the Florida Marlins, and the one being featured in this blog post. The second is for Dan Meyer, the performance artist, inspirational speaker and member of the SSAI (Sword Swallowers Association International).

While Dan Meyer the athelete spent some time with the Atlanta Braves, but only started his professional career in 2008 after being taken on by the Marlins,  the other Dan Meyer is a published author and is best know for sword swallowing underwater in a tank of sharks and stingrays. He even received the Ig Nobel Prize in Medicine from Harvard University for co-authoring the research article “Sword Swallowing and Its Side Effects”.

Now, I’m not a big baseball fan to begin with, but is it just me or does the latter Dan Meyer seem a lot more interesting? (The number of hits for this Dan Meyer even far surpasses that of the athelete!)
