• The holidays are not the time for fashion subtlety. It’s no coincidence that sweaters with bells, tassels and Santa faces are worn around December, or that vivid shades of pink and red are widely worn on February 14th. The holidays require a literal interpretation (through your fashion!) of everything that’s lovely about whatever holiday you’re celebrating!

Here’s some fashion inspiration of how to embrace Americana style  this Fourth of July! Draw from the colours and patterns of the American flag and be brazen in your patriotism!

Nothing says classic American style quite like denim- these pieces will be the anchors to your Fourth of July outfits! Choose denim from brands like William Rast and J Brand for your holiday festivities!

  • While I may not be able to tell you what the words “par”, “bogey”, “birdie” or “bunker” mean, and although Tiger Woods is the only golf player I can identify (mostly because of his US Weekly dramas), there is one thing that I know about golf: the fashion!

Silly hats, flamboyant colours and all manner of polos? With such eccentric fashion, this is one sport I can get behind! (Just please, do not force me to actually watch it!)

Here’s a read-to-wear look that’s all ready to be seen around the golf course!

  • There’s almost nothing I love more than lavishing in the fabulous details of celebrity weddings (except maybe watching videos of silly cats online).

This weekend, Kate Moss and her now-husband Jamie Hince (of the band The Kills) got married with an extravagant three-day wedding worthy of another British royal also named Kate.

Much speculation abounded concerning whether or not John Galliano, a long-time friend of Kate’s, would design her wedding dress, as was rumoured before his “I Love Hitler” debacle. Kate’s dress was in fact designed by Galliano and proved that despite his bigotry, the man sure can make a pretty dress.

The ethereal dress is both simple and ornate, paired perfectly with her tousled, beach-y waves and simple make-up.

  • While you’re lounging pool-side and avoiding all thoughts of next season’s cold weather and rainy days, the fashion world is always thinking a season ahead. The Fall 2011 ad campaigns for the major fashion houses have just been released and, I must say, they’re pretty underwhelming.

Chanel Eyewear- Claudia Schiffer stars in this ever-so predictable campaign

Prada- Fresh and youthful. I like!

Jimmy Choo- Very "Mad Men" (Note Don Draper sipping scotch in the background)

Jimmy Choo- Betty Draper rejects patriarchal oppression and empowers women of the '60s. Or her boots just look really good on her hot husband's face.

Marc Jacobs- Helena Bonham Carter looking diseased and strange. Business as usual.

Marc Jacobs- Helena Bonham Carter looking diseased and strange, this time upside down.

Versace- Skimpy dresses, short hemlines and lavish details. Typical Versace.

Jean Paul Gauthier- This would be my pick for best ad if every JPG ad for the best few seasons hadn't looked exactly like this.

Louis Vuitton- Puppies and purses. I'm on board!

Louis Vuitton- Angelina Jolie in LV's "Core Values" campaign. Can we bring back the puppies?

Burberry- Very British looking, so I guess that could be considered a success?

Dolce and Gabbana- An ad so distracting that it tricks the mind into liking it. Well played, D&G.

Tommy Hilfiger- Continuing it's tradition of being culturally irrelevant and out of touch.

Bottega Veneta- A sad, forelorn beauty being melancholy in a musem. While holding a purse. Any questions?

Carolina Herrera- Boring, and seemingly shot with my mom's digital camera.

Prada- The former Spiderman has no place in the world of high fashion.

  • In anonymous rich people news, Marilyn Monroe’s iconic white dress from “The Seven-Year Itch” was auctioned off this Saturday for $5.5 million.

Up until now, the dress was owned by Debbie Reynolds who has an extensive collection of valuable movie memorabilia, from Dorothy’s dress in”The Wizard of Oz” to the headdress Elizabeth Taylor wore in “Cleopatra”. Reynolds was planning on one day opening a museum of her collection of movie props and costumes, but instead decided to auction them off.

Looking to recreate Marilyn’s most iconic moment with a white dress of your own? Pick up this little bit of loveliness by Tart!

  • So many alliterations in that title. And I like it!

Last month, January Jones shocked Hollywood-watchers by announcing she was pregnant. The shocking thing was not that she was with child, but that she was not disclosing who the father was. INTRIGUE!

Rumors are swirling that the father of her unborn child is either her ex Jason Sudeikis, of Saturday Night Live, or her X-Men First Class director Matthew Vaughn. The latter rumor is particularly salacious because Vaughn is married to Claudia Schiffer!

With all this baby-daddy drama, maybe we’ll all be treated to a classic episode of The Maury Povich show starring the Mad Men starlet and her desperate attempt to identify the father of her child (unlikely, but a girl can dream).

Here’s January Jones, pre-baby bump, wearing two styles of denim by J Brand. Stay tuned for more pictures of January in the coming months who will undoubtedly be spotted wearing maternity denim by J Brand!

  • Dakota Fanning in J Brand

Dakota Fanning was once the adorably precocious youngster with astonishing amounts of talent, starring alongside Hollywood’s biggest names, from Sean Penn to Tom Cruise. Now, Dakota’s surprised the world by growing up (without getting skanky, might I add!)

She recently graduated from high school, expressed interest in going to college and is Marc Jacob’s newest muse! She’s the face of Marc’s “Oh Lola!” fragrance and, most importantly, was spotted wearing J Brand Jeans!

Many people are criticizing Dakota’s rather suggestive ad for “Oh Lola!”. What do you think about it? Share your thoughts in the comments section!

  • I’ve decided that the way I’ve been neglecting Karl Lagerfeld and his delightfully ridiculous quotes has been abominable. Regular posts about Chanel’s master-and-commander will therefore be resuming.

    Karl Lagerfeld 4

    Karl Lagerfeld on Heidi Klum:

“I don’t know Heidi Klum. She was never known in France. Claudia Schiffer also doesn’t know who she is.”
